Schick Hydro 5 Groomer Product Review

I was able to partake in a Crowdtap product sampling for the Schick Hydro 5 Groomer. I have mainly been loyal to Gillette when it comes to razors and have been using the Gillette Fusion for quite awhile now. I was very interested in seeing how the Schick Hydro 5 would compare since it was a Groomer so it had a beard trimmer built in.

I had just shaved when the package arrived from Crowdtap with my Schick Hydro 5 Groomer in it. I decided to wait before testing the product. Any razor can do a good job when you are practically clean shaven to begin with. I really hate shaving every day so I don’t do it. I will go a week at a time in between shaves quite frequently. I would go longer but my skin gets really irritated if I go past a week. So I let the hair grow out while on vacation and decided to give the Hydro 5 Groomer a test run once I got back.

The night before the test, I took a couple of selfies to show what the razor would be up against:

I used the Schick Hydro 5 Groomer the next morning and have to say that I really liked it. It was easy to use. It gave a close shave and I absolutely having the groomer attached to the razor. It did take time to cut through the growth but what razor wouldn’t? It is like a lawnmower trying to cut grass that is too tall. Sometimes you have to go over it a second time. That is what I did with the razor and even after several passes, it did not irritate my skin. After I was done with the razor, I prepped the groomer for its trial run. There are 3 height settings on the trimmer. I usually use a Norelco Phillips with 5 settings so it was a little different than I am used to using. It did a good job though as I picked the middle setting and went to grooming my goatee down to a thickness that I approved. Since it was smaller, it did a better job of getting the hair under my nose than the Norelco.

Overall, I am very happy that I participated in this product review through Crowdtap. I found a razor and groomer in one that was able to handle several days worth of growth without irritating my skin. I would recommend giving it a try if you are not happy with your current method for grooming your facial hair.
